You've probably heard the statistics; a large number of people would rather go the dentist than speak in public. Public speaking is one of the keys to a successful career in life or in school.  Cornell Cooperative Extensions' 4-H Youth Development  says it's one of their most well known programs.

Youth are able to speak publically through formal speeches and creative communications on topics of their own choosing. Oneida County 4-H has chosen to make Public Speaking a focus for the 2016 4-H year. We are strongly encouraging all of our youth, leaders and volunteers to explore the value of this lost art and discover what opportunities can be opened up to a strong public speaker.

On January 18th, Martin Luther King Day, we will be the first annual public speaking workshop. All 4-H youth are welcome, along with leaders and volunteers. In addition to working with the youth, our staff will also be working with the adults that volunteer to judge our youth during competition. It is our goal for all of Oneida County’s 4-H youth to participate in at least one public speaking activity during the 2016 year.
