Utica is home to one of the oldest pizzerias, making the Thrillist list of the 21 oldest in America.

O'scugnizzo Pizzeria came in second, being open for more than 100 years. The local pizzeria is a Utica tradition and member of the Pizza Hall of Fame. O'Scugnizzo's is known for its "upside down" pizza, where the toppings go on before the cheese and sauce.

O'scugnizzo Pizzeria was founded in 1914 by Eugeno Burkina, who only sold tomato pie for a nickel. His son, Angelo "Chops" Burline, made O'scugnizzo what it is today. It's now run by his son Steven Berliner who expanded from the Bleeker Street location to Genesee Street in South Utica.

Not only can you order the upside down pizza, O'scugnizzo also ships pizza to anyone, anywhere in the continental U.S. Send a bake-at-home pizza with the toppings of your choice, ready for the oven. All you have to do is bake and enjoy.

Colin M. Caplan, operator of Taste of New Haven discovered the pizzerias open the longest after research for a book slated to be released in 2017 about the "phenomenon of pizza in America."

Santora's Pizzeria in Buffalo came in at #6, opening in 1927

Who has the honor of topping the list? Papa's Tomato Pies in Robbinsville, New Jersey that opened in 1912.
