Orth Farm – ‘Thank A Farmer’
We’ve teamed up with Whites Farm Supply and James Wesley to ‘Thank a Farmer‘ at FrogFest. We’ve been asking you to nominate farmers who deserve recognition and 2 will be James Wesley’s special guests at FrogFest June 15th. Today we recognize Davey Orth.
I’d like to thank a local farmer, my step-brother, Davey Orth in Eaton. Since we were little kids, Davey always helped out on our family farm, milking cows, feeding calves, picking rocks, plowing, planting, etc. Even through high school and college where he played three sports, he still managed to put in his hours of good, hard work. Two years ago, we lost Davey’s father (my stepfather) very unexpectedly and he went from being a junior partner to the man in charge. While my stepfather left some very big barn boots to fill, Davey stepped up to the challenge. Along with the help of his wife Kathleen, and their two children, Molly and Samuel, Davey has plugged along, keeping our family farm running successfully with grace and modesty. When I stop by to visit I notice how gorgeous our place is and how my stepfather would be so proud of his oldest son. I feel very blessed to be a part of this family and to call Davey my brother. He is a man of many talents and even with all of his chores he always makes time to play with his children, help friends and family when they are in need, and to enjoy his hobbies like hunting and making maple syrup. Please help me in thanking him for all he does for our family and our community.
Thank you for your nomination and thank you Davey Orth for what you do everyday. We’ll put you in the random drawing to be James Wesley’s special guests at FrogFest June 15th, so he can ‘Thank a Farmer.’
