Opry Star George Hamilton IV Dies at Age 77
Country legendy and Opry member George Hamilton IVhas died. He passed away after suffering a heart attack at the age of 77.
Hamilton's career began in the 1950's when he was performing as a teen idol. It wasn't until the 60's he switched to country music. His first hit came at the age of 19 with 'A Rose and a Baby Ruth.' Hamilton's biggest hit was 'Abilen,' spending four weeks at No. 1 on Billboard's country singles chart and reaching the Top 20 of the Hot 100.
Hamilton became a member of the Grand Ole Opry on February 8, 1960 and was inducted into the North Carolina Music Hall of Fame in 2010.
