Did you know the only metal Kazoo factory in North America is in Western, New York? While doing research for our Keith Kazoo Karaoke contest, we discovered the original American Kazoo Company  starting making the metal instruments in 1915 in Eden, New York.

A traveling salesman is said to have brought the metal kazoo to Eden, New York around 1912 where he teamed up with Buffalo tool and die maker, Michael McIntyre to find a way to manufacture the kazoos. McIntyre moved to Eden and partnered up with Harry Richardson, the owner of a metal forming plant.

By 1994, the company produced 1.5 million kazoos per year and was the only manufacturer of metal kazoos in North America. Kazoos are made the same way today as they were in 1915, even on the same die presses that were installed in 1907.

In addition to the Kazoo factory there is also a museum that is open Monday through Saturday. You can see kazoos being made on the original equipment every week day until 3 pm and you can even make your own Kazoo.

The Kazoo factory & museum is located at 8703 S Main St in Eden, New York, south of Buffalo. Learn more at EdenKazoo.com or on the Kazoo Boutique Facebook page.
