Ask a hunter their favorite memory and the answer you usually get will be the first time someone took them hunting. Sporting groups in Oneida and Madison County are helping to build those memories with a Women and Youth Mentored Goose hunt..

A decline in the number of hunters around the state is blamed on a lack of opportunity for some and the increasing number of single parent homes. The Federated Sportsmen's Club in Oneida County and the NWTF in Madison County are sponsoring the hunt September 23 and 24 in both counties.

To participate, youth must be 12 or older and possess a NYS small game license. 16 and older will also need a Federal Duck Stamp. Spots in the hunt are limited, so making a reservation is very important.  Register at My CNY Hunts or for more information call Scott Faulkner at 315-225-0192, ECO Steve Lakeman at 315-734-0648 or ECO Ric Grisolini at 315-240-6966.
