Obie the Obese Dachshund Seeking Diet Plan [VIDEO]

We all try to please our pets with the occasional treat but Obie, a dachshund in Portland, Oregon, apparently received spoiling way beyond reason. At 70 pounds Obie is more than twice his recommended weight which is why a local veterinary tech, Nora Vanetta, has begun a Facebook page to support her efforts to get Obie back to a more normal and more healthy weight.

The Huffington Post reports that Obie's elderly owners were no longer able to care for the overfed canine and he was turned in to a veterinary clinic for treatment. The treatment sounds like something out of "The Biggest Loser".

Obie is still in fairly good health; however, he cannot engage in regular exercise. He  has been introduced to a special hydrotherapy regime. When he loses a little weight, a treadmill will be added to his workout routine.
