No Thruway Toll Increase For Trucks

The New York State Thruway Authority is heeding the call for a more business friendly environment in rejecting a proposed 45% increase in toll charges for trucks. As reported by our sister station WIBX Governor Cuomo said that Thruway savings will come from cost savings rather than toll increases. The move was hailed by business leaders.
The most negative impact would have been felt by the state’s trucking industry.
“Had the 45 percent toll increase gone into place, we know several of our members that would have either shut their doors or would have looked at moving their businesses outside of New York,” said Kendra Hems, the NYS Motor Truck Association President.
This is welcome news that will help create a better business profile for New York State.
