NHL Locks Out Players

Although she was born and raised north of the border Polliwog is not your everyday Canadian. What I mean by that is that she is not a big hockey fan. Most all of Canada will be heading to their pharmacy today for some anxiety medication on news that the NHL has locked out its players in a contract dispute risking a second work stoppage in less than 10 years. What are the odds of NHL hockey this season?
It now appears unlikely that training camps will open next week. The regular season is scheduled to begin Oct. 11, but that is also in peril.
The issue–as you might expect–is money with the league owners and players union in disagreement on how to divide some $3.3 billion in revenues. A winter without hockey in Canada would be devastating as the game is more than just a sport to our neighbors to the north.
