New York State Apple Prices Up

If it’s true that an apple a day keeps the doctor away it will start costing you a little more to avoid that office visit now that the prices of those apples is going up. YNN reports that this years apple harvest came up a little short resulting in higher prices for your favorite macouns, red delicious and cortlands not to mention apple cider and apple pies. The reason for the shortfall?
Bill Michaels, Co-Owner of Fly Creek Cider Mill, said, “This year’s crop is a little bit shorter than years past, due in the most part to a very warm March followed by two successive frosts in April.”
If you are an apple lover, however, a somewhat higher cost won’t discourage you from enjoying your favorite apple products while at the same time supporting local apple producers.
