We've all seen the I "Heart" NY signs and t-shirts that promote tourism in the state. Agriculture has two similar campaigns and a third one in development, could help increase the sale of state grown products.

The two existing programs are Pride of NY and Taste NY.  The pride program  is a branding program developed to increase awareness of NYS food products through use of the Pride of NY logo.  The other program coordinates events throughout the state for vendors to sell their products.  TasteNY.gov even offers event calendars and locations of farmers markets, breweries, distillers and wineries.

If you raise, grow or process any food products in the state you can use the 'The Pride of NY' logo.  Here's their online application.  In addition to hosting events this year, Taste NY has opened stores at major NY airports and rest stops and will begin deploying vending machines later this year.  Here's where you can get more information.

The program under development will be called Buy NY.  It will increase the use of NY food products at public agencies, such as schools, hospitals and prisons.  That would definitely put a bump in the sale of local products.  Get more details on any of the programs at Cornell Cooperative Extension.
