The New York state Army and Air National Guard alongside area military veterans have teamed up for the 14th year of "Trees For Troops" which sends Christmas Trees overseas to active military members.

“Trees for Troops” has delivered more than 200,000 trees to service members and their families in every branch of the military at nearly 65 bases in 17 countries. According to Military Times, these trees come from Upstate New York:

Ellms Family Tree Farm in the village of Ballston Spa helps to provide the trees to be shipped to members of the military who are not able to come home for the holidays.

LakeGeorge.com reports that since 2005, Ellms' Christmas Tree Farm has been donating real Christmas trees.

"Over the last 2 years I have been very involved in the Trees For Troops program," said Chip Ellms from Ellms' Christmas Trees. "We want our troops to be able to experience the holiday season with a Real Christmas Tree."

Ellms’ Christmas Trees is a family-run Christmas tree farm near Saratoga at the Ellms Farms which began about 30 years ago. The farm consists of 200 acres of ponds, forests and Christmas tree fields. The farm is also open year round.

You can support Trees for Troops through your tax-deductible donation or by becoming a sponsor.
