Fishing, timber sports and new rides highlight the newest additions to the New York State Fair this year.

Governor Cuomo has announced some great new attractions at this year's State Fair beginning with a day devoted to NYS fishing.

'I Fish New York' is a new fishing derby that will be held on August 27 on Onondaga Lake. The derby will feature members of Bass Anglers Sportsman Society competing for the bigest catch of the day on the lake from 7 a.m. until 11 a.m. with an official weigh-in and awards at the New York Experience at the Fairgrounds.

From 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. you'll be able to join the State DEC for a free fishing experience at the New York Experience area pond. Kids of all ages and anglers of all experience levels can participate.

You can also check out B.A.S.S. boats and fishing gear and equipment throughout the day.

On September 2, the New York Experience Area will be transformed into a timber sports arena where college timber sports teams from SUNY-ESF, SUNY Morrisville and Paul-Smiths will compete in lumberjack competitions.

A new sky-ride will highlight the midway this year. The Broadway Skyliner will take riders 34 feet in the air and take you above the Midway on a 7-minute 1,400 foot ride.

Also for the first time ever, the Great New York State Fair will have a water ride! The White Water flume has two slides where you'll be able to cool off from the hot CNY summer days.

the Midway will also welcome back the RC-48 steel roller coaster, a 70 foot high coaster that ends with a helix twist.

That's not all either, you can get a full look at all the new rides, events and attractions at NYSFair.ny.gov.
