Did you know that the New Hartford Barnes and Noble summer reading program for kids gives kids a free book when they read over the summer? It's actually pretty easy, free, and fun for kids to get involved in this program.

Through the course of the summer, kids can receive a free book when they read 8 books over the summer. This program is designed to keep kids reading during the summer break. Here's how it works:

1) Go to the Barnes and Noble summer reading program link to download and print a reading journal. Parents can help fill out the student information on the first page of the journal. A parent or guardian is required to sign on this page in order for the child to get a free book.

2) Your child will be required to write in this log to keep track of the books they are reading during the summer break. They will need to record the title and author, and their favorite part of the books. This is required to be done in order for them to get their free book.

3) Bring the completed and signed reading journal into the New Hartford location, or any other local Barnes and Noble book store between May 16th 2017 - September 5th 2017.

The Balance has compiled a list of books that are up for grabs for free for the kids. There is books available for ALL reading levels.
