National Prime Rib Day-Matt’s Five Favorite Prime Rib Restaurants
When it comes to prime rib I consider myself somewhat of a connoisseur. I don't have it very often–maybe 6 times a year–but when I do I want it juicy, cooked to taste and tender. So on this National Prime Rib day let me point out my top 5 spots for “primo-reebo”
Captain John's in Sylvan Beach
Captain John's has been a dining staple in Sylvan Beach for longer than I can remember. Although it is open from February through October I usually hit in once every summer. The atmosphere is lively, the booths nautucal and roomy and the food and service top shelf
Buffalo Head in Forestport
Years ago the Buffalo Head was renowned for its ridiculously large portions. The portions are still generous although economics have probably dictated a smaller slice of that juicy prime rib. A homey atmosphere and a great place to stop heading to or from the Adirondacks.
Kirby's in Yorkville
I remember when this location was a "Mr. Steak". It still has good steaks but the prime rib is always consistently tender and the portion more than fair for the price.
69 Steakhouse in Whitesboro
The 69 Steakhouse locale has housed a number of establishments over the years but now the current ownership seems to have settled in nicely. Comfortable booths, generous portions and a great bar help to make it one of my favorites prime rib locations.
Alee's Downtown Utica
I haven't tried it yet but my good friend and colleague Greg "Splashin'" McShea says its outstanding. His taste is usually my taste so a stop there will be planned soon.
