NASCAR Driver, Dick Trickle Commits Suicide

NASCAR legened, Dick Trickle has died.  According to reports Trickle took his own live around noon today after calling authorities to tell them where to find him.  Click for details.

Trickle may have been as well known for the jokes about his name as he was for his racing skills.  While he was never a major winner on the NASCAR stage, collecting just one checkered flag on the Winston/Sprint cup series and one in the Busch series.  He was billed as the winning-est short track driver in history, logging a million miles and winning nearly 1,000 feature races.

According to WISTV in Charlotte, NC, trickle took his life with a self inflicted gun shot wound just after noon today (5/16/13).

The Lincoln County Communications Center received a call apparently from the victim that "there would be a dead body and it would be his ".  Communications Center workers tried to place a return call to the number but did not get an answer.

 

One of the most memorable TV moments for Trickle came when the in-car camera showed him having a smoke while racing.  Check out the video.
