Long before Darth Vader, E.T.and Harry Potter, there were other characters we used to dress up as on Halloween. I remember as a kid at Miller School (now Martin Luther King, Jr. School) in Utica, going to class in costume on Halloween Day, hoping that I didn't rip my costume for trick or treating later that night. But I have a favorite costume from my youth!

I recall many of my childhood costumes...a pirate, a hobo, Casper the Friendly Ghost, a horse (no wisecracks, please), and many others. My all-time favorite Halloween costume was the year I went as Popeye The Sailor Man! That was a store-bought costume, which was a big deal when I was growing up. Everything looked great on that Popeye costume, but I had trouble with the fake arm muscles falling down. Of course, now I don't need fake arm muscles (yeh, right).

I imagine you have a favorite Halloween costume, and maybe you'll even be wearing it tonight! So from my Popeye memories, all I can say is, "I am what I am, and that's all that I am...yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk, yuk).
