It's been a hot, dry summer in Central New York. Many places are facing drought conditions and water restrictions. Much needed rain is on the way but it could cause flash flooding.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms are expected Tuesday night and Wednesday, bringing heavy rainfall. Central New York could see as much as 2 inches of rain in a short time, which may cause localized flooding, according to the National Weather Service.

Another storm, that has dumped rain over Florida, could hit the area over the weekend. But weather patterns may change between now and Saturday.

With two potential storms hitting Central New York, will it be enough rain to end this Summer's drought? The National Weather Service says we'll need 4 to 8 inches of rain to make a difference.
