In an attempt to slow the declining number of farmers, New York is making one million dollars in grants available.   Cornell University's Small Farms Program says the money will cover half the costs of projects, with the farmer matching the grant. 

Helping new farmers succeed is critical to the future of sustaining agriculture in New York State. In response to this important initiative, Governor Cuomo has announced 1 million dollars in funding is available to assist new farmers.

Eligible project costs include the purchase of farm machinery, supplies and equipment, and construction or improvement of farm buildings. The Fund which is open to New York farmers in the first ten years of having a farm operation of 150 acres or less.
