How many times have we heard our parents and grandparents say:  "When I was your age, I used to walk five miles to school" ? Well, whether or not they actually did walk all those miles to school, more students today are being driven to school by their parents.

"It seems like today, we're driving our kids more and more to school. Even though half of U.S. school-age children live within two miles of their schools, three-quarters of the households questioned in the 2009 National Household Travel Survey take their children to school in a private vehicle -- a huge increase from the 15 percent that were driven in 1969."
