Miranda Lambert Thinks She Should Cover Carrie Underwood’s ‘Before He Cheats’
Miranda Lambert isn’t one to be afraid to tell you what she’s thinking or feeling. The song that scored her the first Top 10 single of her career, ‘Gunpowder and Lead,’ showed the world of country music that she may be little, but she’s one tough chicky!
While she does write nearly all of her music that she records, Lambert does think back on one song that she wishes that she had the opportunity to cut. “There are so many [great songs, but] ‘Before He Cheats’ [by Carrie Underwood] … that’s a good one!” Lambert tells People. “Maybe I should cover it!”
To balance out emotions, Lambert also reveals the song that makes her cry time and time again, which also happens to be her new single, ‘Over You.’ “I wrote it with my husband for my new record,” Lambert says. “It’s a really personal song about his brother passing away in a car accident when he was 24. I can’t listen to it or sing it without getting teary-eyed.”
As far as her dream duet partner, Lambert turns back to her own format of music when stating it would be the one and only Merle Haggard. “I’d sing anything with him,” Lambert grins. “Merle could sing the phone book and it would sound amazing.”
‘Over You’ is the second release from Lambert’s newly-released ‘Four the Record’ album that hit stores this past November. The album’s lead single, ‘Baggage Claim,’ reached the Top 5 on the country singles chart in December.
