Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton Join Country Stars Supporting Little Big Town’s ‘Girl Crush’
The backlash over Little Big Town's latest single 'Girl Crush' is working in the bands favor. The song has been pulled from some radio stations over the controversial lyrics but it's #1 on iTunes. Listeners feel it's promoting gay relationships when in fact it's a song about being jealous over your ex boyfriends new girlfriend. Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton are backing the song and the band, tweeting a selfie as they both wear Girl Crush hats.
I got a song crush! Love yall @littlebigtown #girlcrush #PlayGirlCrush @blakeshelton pic.twitter.com/jgM2N0EWNc

Lambert and Shelton aren't the only country stars to support Little Big Town. Reba and Martina McBride join others in showing their Girl Crush.
“@amandashanks76: @martinamcbride What's your opinion of Little Big Town's song Girl Crush?” I think it's 1 of the best songs Iveheard ever

Dierks Bentley also spoke out in support of Little Big Town, in an interview with the Huffington Post saying:
"I have so much respect for Little Big Town. To take chances like that and keep the genre going and moving, it requires bold artists. The song being pulled is probably one of the best things that could happen to them. Like when Garth Brooks' "The Thunder Rolls" got banned from CMT for being too edgy. It just makes fans want to hear it more and go out there and find it."
Bentley couldn't be more right. Despite the lack of radio play, 'Girl Crush' is #1 on iTunes, proving fans want to hear the well written song that's beautifully performed by a band with the best harmonies in country music.
The lyrics causing controversy:
I wanna taste her lips, yeah, ‘cause they taste like you
I wanna drown myself in a bottle of her perfume
I want her long blonde hair, I want her magic touch
Yeah, ‘cause maybe then, you’d want me just as much
I gotta girl crush, I gotta girl crush
Even if the song was about a gay love, should it really matter? It is 2015 and a good song is a good song.
What do you think? Is the song promoting gay relationships or do you have a Girl Crush on Little Big Town's new song?
