Mindy McCready Opens Up About Family Drama on 20/20 Tonight

Mindy McCready is speaking out about her family and her alleged abduction of her son, Zander. She tells ABC’s 20/20 she was just looking out for the safety of her little boy and no one can tell her what she did was wrong.
McCready took her son from her mother in Florida last week, claiming the boy was at risk living with his grandmother. Zander had been in the custody of her mom since 2007. Mindy has a history of substance abuse, and in recent years has faced personal and legal battles from her addiction. But she’s gone through treatment and says she’s doing well in a new relationship, with twins on the way, and she wants her son to be part of her family.
The custody matter was addressed in an Arkansas court earlier this week. Mindy couldn’t talk about the details but says she’s ‘a happy girl.’ She’ll share more, including why she believes Zander is not safe with her mom, on tonight’s 20/20 at 10 on ABC.
