Millions of “Simpsons” Stamps Remain Unsold

As Homer Simpson himself would say, “Doh!” Bloomberg Financial News reports that the United States Postal Service has some 682 million unsold “Simpsons” stamps left over from their 2009 issuance. The USPS poured $1.2 million into producing the stamps to commemorate the popular show’s 20th anniversary but, apparently, it was not money well spent. It gets worse.
The prospect of any future sales is dim because they bear the old 44-cent postal rate, a penny below the current 45-cent cost. Apparently the people who still use snail mail aren’t the same ones who watch the show.
