Merry Christmas vs Happy Holidays

What would you rather hear this holiday; Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays?
Shoppers, as they have for several years, prefer to be greeted with signs reading “Merry Christmas” rather than “Happy Holidays” according to the latest Rasmussen Report. 70% of American’s surveyed prefer stores use signs that say “Merry Christmas.”
It’s a sticky situation for me. I usually ‘say’ Happy Holidays if I’m on the phone with a Big Frog listener, because you never know who you’re talking to or what their beliefs are. But I prefer to ‘hear’ Merry Christmas. It’s always been Merry Christmas in our household. We celebrate the traditional way with a Christmas tree, not a holiday tree. We have the stockings and presents under the tree every year. However, I realize others don’t celebrate the same way, so I tend to say Happy Holidays to avoid offending anyone.
What is your preference?
