In today’s crowded musical landscape, it’s more important than ever for an artist plugging a new release to find new and interesting ways to attract the attention of potential listeners — even if that artist is a multi-platinum fixture on the radio dial.

Martina McBride is one artist who seems to have learned this lesson well — instead of booking just another tour as part of the promotion for her descriptively titled eleventh album, ‘Eleven,’ she’ll be embarking on an 11-stop, cross-country train ride.

For the jaunt, dubbed ”’Eleven’ Across America Sponsored by Amtrak,” McBride is planning a series of what are being described as “intimate” shows in cities including Albuquerque, Chicago and New York. The Associated Press says McBride is “excited” about the trip, and why not? Sightseeing from an Amtrak cabin should be a pleasant change of pace from the tour bus.

‘Eleven’ — which looks to extend McBride’s 11-year streak as the most-played female artist on country radio — is scheduled to arrive in stores on October 11.
