Man Outsources Job, Watches Cat Videos Instead

We’ve all heard stories about companies outsourcing jobs to India, China, Mexico and elsewhere in an effort to save on labor costs. Now comes a story from TheNextWeb of a man being referred to as “Bob” who “works” as a developer for a U.S. infrastructure company. “Bob” makes a six-figure salary but has been outsourcing his job to someone in China who he pays about one-fifth of his income. What does he do on company time?
His “workday” schedule was uncovered by a Verizon investigative team.
9:00 a.m. – Arrive and surf Reddit for a couple of hours. Watch cat videos.
11:30 a.m. – Take lunch.
1:00 p.m. – Ebay time.
2:00 – ish p.m Facebook updates – LinkedIn.
4:30 p.m. – End of day update e-mail to management.
5:00 p.m. – Go home.
I wouldn’t be surprised if you looked in a dictionary and found “Bob’s” picture next to the word “lazy”. Then again, maybe it’s just a sign of our technological times.
