Looking for something fun to do with the kids? Everyone loves playing with bubbles so why not try making your own glow in the dark bubble solution? Its simple and with this recipe its also safe!

You might find some recipes for glow in the dark bubbles that call for breaking open a glow stick and using the liquid inside to make your bubbles glow - please don't try that recipe - the liquid inside is actually toxic.

Instead, use washable glow paint and a mixture of your favorite bubble solution:

You'll want to make sure you're using enough solution so that the bubbles are strong - if you like to make your own solution, try this recipe for super strong bubbles:

  • 3 cups water
  • 1 cup liquid dishwashing detergent
  • 1/2 cup white corn syrup (white to keep bubbles clear)
  • Mix together and you're done!

Next, combine the bubble solution with washable, glow in the dark paint - you can find this at most craft stores and even at Walmart or Kmart.

You will have to fine-tune the mix to make sure you're getting strong enough bubbles and a bright glow factor. Start by using a 50-50 mixture and adjust from there.

As soon as you have found the right combination, you're all set! Put the solution in some light to charge it and either wait for dark - or if you're the cool parents - turn the lights off inside and have a blast with your glowing bubbles!
