Madison County Crop Congress March 16 – AG Matters
If you already have the itch to get in the field, the Madison County Crop Congress may intensify it more. Cornell Cooperative Extension's program is this Wednesday, March 16 from 10am - 3pm.
The program will cover a wide range of topics including; pest management, seeds, fertilizer, maintenance and solar energy. Here's the speakers and their topics.
Jeff Miller, Cornell Cooperative Extension - Pests
Jeff will talk about the pests he found in crops last season, their life cycles and management options.
Amy Langdon, NRCS - Soil Health
Amy will cover tillage and cover crops, soil erosion, rainfall infiltration and soil structure.
Jerry Cherney, Cornell - Forage Specialist
Jerry will talk about the variety of grass species and their characteristics, hay production for horses and high quality hay crop silage for dairy.
Quirine Ketterings, Cornell - Nutrient Management Specialist
Discussion on the two main classes of nitrogen fertilizer, her greenhouse and field studies.
Jared Ford, SUNY Morrisville - Sprayer Maintenance
Jared will talk about repair and calibration and new technologies.
Mary Wrege, Cornell Cooperative Extension - Solar Energy
Mary will discuss installation of this technology on 18 farms and solar electricity production.
