Made In USA Label-Does It Influence Shoppers? [VIDEO]

Take a looks at the labels in your clothing. Your kids toys. Just about anything you place in your shopping cart these days will have a label printed with the country of origin which is, more often than not, China. According to a new survey by Perception Resource Services better than four out of five shoppers notice the “Made in USA” labels. The question is, does it make a difference in purchasing?
The numbers show that a large majority of shoppers (76%) are more likely to buy products with the “Made in USA” label. What are factors that a shopper will consider when choosing between an American made product and one from China?
Just over half (57%) say they are less likely to purchase products that are Made in China – mostly because of safety and quality concerns. The positive associations with “Made in China” are related to a better price.
The “Made in USA” label campaign is having some positive results.
“Whether it is for quality assurance, to boost the economy, or out of patriotism, buying American-made products is becoming quite fashionable among US shoppers,” says Jonathan Asher, executive vice president of PRS.
The economy will definitely enter into our purchasing decisions but if it’s a close call let’s always try to buy “Made in USA” or, as Toby Keith sang in this video, “Made in America”.
