First it was Mother Nature that postponed the 15k individual biathlon for Maddie Phaneuf. Now it's her health.

"I woke up with a scratchy throat this morning, and it turned out to be strep," Phaneuf wrote on Facebook. "Unfortunately, this takes me out of the Individual race tomorrow."

Phaneuf was originally scheduled to make her Olympic debut this morning but windy conditions postponed the event until tomorrow, February 15th. "Words cannot describe how upset I am, knowing how close I was to racing in my first Olympics."

The Old Forge native may be down but she's not out. "I'm trying to keep my chin up, and hoping to recover quickly. There's still a chance I may get the opportunity to race in the Women's Relay later, so fingers crossed."

We're all crossing our fingers and hope you get better soon Maddie.
