On National Book Lover's Day, Luke Austin wants you to forget about the horrible adaptations of books that have been coming to theaters in droves and read instead.

Countless books have been made into movies over the years, and with the exception of a small few, most of the movies have left readers with a bad taste in their mouths.

For example, I am a huge fan of Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Naturally when I found out they were making a movie out of it I was beyond excited. Until I saw it.

I won't bore you with the tons of ways they changed my favorite books when they brought it to the big screen. All I will say is go out and buy the books and read them.

It's Book Lover's day and what better excuse to begin that book or series that you've been wanting to pick up for months or even years.

So skip the movie theater, go grab a book that's been made into a movie and have yourself a better time. After all, you'll spend about as much on a book as a movie, and the book will last much longer than the average movie.

Happy reading! I recommend Stephen King's The Dark Tower series (book 1 is titled The Gunslinger) or The Martian by Andy Weir.
