Lowville’s Steve Urbaniak Helping 49er’s Prepare For Super Bowl
There are all kinds of preparations taking place in advance of this Sunday’s Super Bowl and an upstate New York man is in the thick of them. Steve Urbaniak, a Lowville native, is the equipment manager for the San Francisco 49er’s and his job is to make sure the players have all the latest and newest equipment to help ensure their safety. It’s a big job.
He is responsible for outfitting players and coaches in safe and advanced equipment, as well as ordering and maintaining all of the team’s equipment and sideline apparel. Urbaniak and his staff also transport team equipment to and from all games, as well as assist coaches with daily practice needs.
According to a report from YNN Steve’s position with the 49er’s also allows him to give back to the Lowville community.
He’s able to take some of the equipment the Niners no longer need and give it to local schools. “Growing up back there, the opportunities are few and far between. Sometimes it can be a decision on if you play or not on whether you have a pair of cleats,” He said. “For me to be able to send cleats home so kids can play sports means a lot.”
