If you love camping anywhere in New York, you'll love the Department of Environmental Conservation's Empire Pass. And if you have used the pass before, the changes to 2018 edition make it even sweeter.

The new Empire Pass Wallet Card gives you vehicle entry into most forests, beaches, trails and other facilities operated the New York State Parks and DEC. Also, new this year, there are no decals to place on your vehicle, freeing you from using the same ride every time. You can even share the card with other family members and caregivers.

It's a pretty good deal at $80 a year, but if you purchase it before March 31, it's even more economical at $65. There are even options to purchase the Empire Pass for multiple years or a lifetime. If you're the ultimate outdoor warrior, you can even get free camping by becoming a Camping Ambassador.
