A knee surgery and pneumonia kept country legend Loretta Lynn from fulfilling a number of her late 2011 tour dates. An unknown ailment is keeping her off the road to begin 2012. The singer has canceled her first shows of the year, a Jan. 7 stop in Ashland, Ken. and a Jan. 8 show in Durham, N.C.

A statement at Lynn’s website says both shows will be rescheduled but doesn’t list specific dates. The Durham Performing Arts Center lists an April 7 date with Lynn as the makeup date, however. This is the second time both shows have been postponed. They were originally scheduled for Oct. 22 and 23, but Lynn’s battle with pneumonia forced her to pull out at the last minute.

In August, the ‘Fist City’ singer canceled eight shows to have knee surgery, and in July a hospitalization forced her to cancel an additional show. Despite all of this, Lynn told the News Press of Ft. Meyers, Fla. that she’s feeling great. “I’m probably in better shape than most singers age 20. I really am!”

The statement at Lynn’s website does not specify why she was forced to postpone this weekend’s dates. We join her fans in Miami, Okla. and Dallas, Texas in hoping she recovers quickly and completely before her next scheduled dates in those cities on Jan. 21 and 22.
