Today marks a sad day in American history. On this day, November 22, 1963, our 35th President of the United States, John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dallas, Texas. For baby boomers, WWII Generation and others old enough to remember, it was a tragic moment frozen in time.

As is the case with 9/11/11, those of us who were around on this day back in 1963, remember exactly where we were and what we were doing when we first learned the news. And, you can't help but ask, how would history have changed had he lived. Sadly, we will never know, but we should never forget this tragic moment.

Perhaps a better way to remember JFK would be to celebrate his life. Recently, Chris Matthews, host of "Hardball" on MSNBC, wrote a book about the life of President Kennedy entitled: "Jack Kennedy:  Elusive Hero". I know that book is on my Christmas list, and I look forward to reading more about a man we barely knew.

As for the Warren Commission report and conspiracy theories surrounding the assassination, we'll probably never learn what really happened that awful day in Dallas. As JFK once said, "Let the word go forth...that the torch has been passed to a new generation of Americans".
