Mother Nature may make a messy Monday morning commute. The first lake effect snow of the season is expected in central New York Sunday through Monday morning.

The National Weather Service says several inches could fall with winds causing blowing and drifting snow, creating dangerous travel.

The cold front sweeps through early Sunday morning, with wind gusts up to 45 mph during the day. A few power outages are possible. "Portions of central New York will also see accumulating lake effect snow east and southeast of Lake Ontario late Sunday into Monday. Heavy snowfall rates and areas of blowing snow could cause hazardous travel conditions."
