Kristen Kelly Talks Opening For The Band Perry in Deansboro & Pranking Brad Paisley

Kristen Kelly is a small town girl with big dreams. She’s been singing for ten years but it’s the last few years that have put her in the spotlight. She’s on the road with Brad Paisley and The Band Perry.  She’ll also open for The Band Perry at MKJ Farm in Deansboro August 4th.

Kelly is a country fan who grew up in small town in Texas. ‘You blink and you miss it.’ I grew up a country music fan.  My dad introduced me to classic rock and somewhere along the way I fell in love with the blues. I feel like there’s a bit more grease than polish in my music.’

Thousands of fans are hearing her unique sound on Paisley’s tour, that has turned into a learning experience for Kelly.  ‘Brad Paisley and The Band Perry are so incredibly talented.  I watch their shows and feel like I walk away with something new each night.’

Being on tour with the biggest road prankster doesn’t scare Kelly. ‘Who’s going to sit back and wait for it come. We have to have fun out there on the road, so why not. Let’s get this party started.‘  Kelly pulled the first punch by dressing up as Brad and joining him on stage.  Brad’s response? ‘She makes a pretty woman but an ugly guy. Kelly knows her days are now numbered. ‘I’ve got payback coming, I’m sure.’

Kelly’s past relationship is the subject of her new song, ‘Ex Old Man.’  A song she didn’t intend to write. ‘I didn’t walk into a room and say I want to write a song about the fact I have an ex-husband and an ex best girlfriend.  We were writing another song when I made a comment and it just grew from there. I feel we took a not so great situation and wrote a pretty fun song that may help some people in the same situation.’

Kristen feels blessed to be where she’s at in her career. ‘Hard work and perseverance pay off.  A message I have to anyone who has a dream: Keep on dreamin’ because dreams do come true.‘
