Need a smile today? A Kirkland Police officer's Lip Sync Challenge is the perfect way to start your day.

Officer Shawn Occhipinti has been inundated with requests to take on the latest trend sweeping the nation. "I can’t even begin to tell you how many people have texted or called me and said 'Shawn why have you not done the lip sync challenge yet'," says Officer Occhipinti. "I told them as soon as I find a fun song to lip sync to I promise I’ll do it."

The promise was kept and the fun song Officer Occhipinti chose - 'Don't Worry, Be Happy.' "It's a fun song and who doesn’t love that song."

Thousands are happy with Officer Occhipinti adding Kirkland to the central New York police departments taking part in the Lip Sync Challenge. "There's definitely been a positive response on social media and on patrol," says Occhipinti. "I have a lot of people coming up to me to say 'great job' and 'it’s about time a local officer did the challenge.'"
