Little Falls Native Sets Goal To Join Paralympic Team For Nordic Skiing
Meet 28 year old Kevin Burnside Jr from Little Falls. He was born with Spina Bifida, and recently he became a bilateral below knee amputee. That hasn't stopped him from reaching for the stars.
Kevin has done adaptive sports his whole life. He's no stranger to a challenge:
My first love was wheelchair basketball, I have ventured into other adaptive sports, but I grew fond of Nordic Skiing and Biathlon.
I had my first ever competition at nationals’18 for cross country skiing and biathlon, where I must use a sit ski, due to my disability. I had an amazing time and absolutely loved it, I even enjoy it more than wheelchair basketball."
Currently he is working towards his biggest goal of making the Paralympic team for Nordic skiing. He is asking for donations from you Central New York to make this happen. He's launched a GoFundMe with the simple goal of $1000. Currently, he has over $150 in donations.
I am asking for donations to help with my travel cost, equipment, and competition. I greatly appreciate all donations and will use all funds fully and will give my all in every competition I do.
Do you have a donation to make to this dreamer?
