There's a first time for everything, including putting modern country music hits on Broadway -- more specifically, songs made famous by Kenny Chesney and Jake Owen.

The New York Musical Theatre Festival's new production 'Somewhere With You' is featuring a modern country songbook created by Director Peter Zinn and songwriter JT Harding, who has penned hits for Chesney, Owen, Uncle Kracker, Keith Urban, Billy Currington and others.

Naturally, Chesney's 'Somewhere With You' will appear in the production. Owen's 'Alone With You' and Uncle Kracker's hit 'Smile' among others will all be sung in 'Somewhere WIth You,' according to Country Weekly.

'Somewhere With You' is a country rock musical that portrays a coming-of-age love story between an aspiring country singer and a recovering meth addict. It's compelling and gritty, centering around Southerners growing up in the early 2000s. This new generation is confronted by many issues, including the methamphetamine epidemic, the war in Iraq and other post-Sept. 11 challenges in the rural south, according to the musical's website. It's one of the first musicals to chronicle the experience of U.S. soldiers based in Iraq during that time.

The musical will debut at New York’s the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre July 8-13, 2014. Ticket information can be found here.
