Kelly Clarkson may have just gotten engaged last month, but the superstar singer is already learning the ropes of motherhood.

According to Us Weekly, Clarkson is adjusting well to her role as stepmother to fiance Brandon Blackstock's two children, Savannah, 11, and Seth, 7 -- both from a previous marriage. An insider close to the family says that the singer is "careful not to step on their mother's toes," but enjoys paying the children special attention.

Said special attention includes a VIP vacation to Disneyland, a trip the new Blackstock clan took last summer while Clarkson was on location in Los Angeles filming episodes of 'Duets.'

Clarkson may be a top notch stepmom, but that doesn't mean the 'Don't Rush' singer is in any hurry to have children of her own. The now-Nashville resident admits that even her walk down the aisle won't be a speedy affair.

“He was married for awhile and I come from two broken homes so… my whole thing is I don’t wanna rush into something,” Clarkson says of her cautious crawl towards marriage. “We are very happy in love and we will totally be getting married. But we’re not planning that anytime soon.”

One person who may be rooting for a quick process is Blake Shelton, who had a heavy hand in getting his Music Row-based manager to propose to Clarkson.

"I told Brandon, man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl,” recalls the 'It'd Sure Be Cool If You Did' singer.

“I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy,” coaxed the happily married country music superstar. "I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get your head out of your ass and ask that girl to marry you.”

No wedding date has been set, but Clarkson will no doubt remain busy in the meantime promoting 'Greatest Hits - Chapter One,' the singer's first hits collection. The project includes Clarkson's current Top 40 single, 'Don't Rush,' as well as her Top 20 pop smash, 'Catch My Breath.'
