If you follow country cutie Kellie Pickler on Twitter, you know that on May 9, she checked off a seriously awesome item from her bucket list: flying jets with the U.S. Navy Blue Angels.

The Blue Angels is the United States NAVY Flight Demonstration Squadron, which also represents the U.S. Marine Corps. ‘Flight Demonstration Squad’ is a fancy way of saying that the Blue Angels fly at crazy-high speeds, while performing wild turns, spins, drops and barrel rolls. Blue Angel pilot LT Mark Tedrow let Kellie Pickler in the action yesterday, as they soared from ground level to 2,000 feet in a matter of four seconds. The flight left from the Smyrna Airport, where the Blue Angels will be performing for the Great Tennessee Air Show this weekend.

The former ‘American Idol’ contestant was blown away by the experience. After her 45-minute flight landed she wrote on Twitter, “I just landed! It was INCREDIBLE!!! Biggest adrenaline rush EVER!!”

Later she followed up by thanking the Blue Angels by tweeting “THANK YOU @BlueAngels for the fastest most badass ride of my life!!!! Let’s fly again soon!!! ;) ” and posting a photo of her with her pilot.

Even though her celebrity has continued to grow since her ‘American Idol’ days, Pickler has always made time to serve the military. She has said in interviews that she is most proud of her service in the USO, through which she has performed her hit songs for troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan. Flying with the Blue Angels was just another way for Pickler to celebrate the military’s service to our country. But this time, they gave back to her with the experience of a lifetime!
