Keith Urban plans to debut a brand new song on the CMT Music Awards Wednesday night (June 10). “John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16” is the first taste of the followup project to Urban's 2013 Fuse album.

“It’s a great feeling to be back in the studio shaping a new album,” Urban says in a press release. "'John Cougar, John Deere, John 3:16’ was sent to me a few months ago by one of the songwriters and I loved it immediately — loved it so much that right before I walked out on stage at the Ryman (Auditorium) for CRS (Country Radio Seminar) a few months back, I thought I’d play the song solo acoustic to see what the audience thought. Flash forward and there's no doubt that their response that day helped make it the first single from what will be my next album."

Co-written by Shane McAnally, Ross Copperman and Josh Osborne, Urban praised the song's "poetic use" of the three famous Johns, saying something about the track resonated with him deeply.

The song will be released to radio stations June 9 and available for download at midnight ET that night.

Urban is nominated for two honors at the 2015 CMT Music Awards — Male Video of the Year for "Somewhere in My Car" and CMT performance of the year for "It's a Man's, Man's, Man's World" from the 2014 CMT Artists of the Year special.

The awards show airs live Wednesday night at 8PM ET and is completely fan-voted. Voting for most of the categories is already complete, but one final round will be opened up during the show to determine the night's big winner for video of the year.

Following his awards show performance, Urban will headline the first night of the Taste of Country Festival Friday (June 12) at Hunter Mountain in Hunter, N.Y. The festival runs through the weekend and also includes headlining sets by Tim McGraw and Toby Keith. The following weekend, Urban and the same co-headliners will meet up again in Colorado for Country Jam 2015.
