Keith Urban is up for a 2013 Critics' Choice Movie award, landing the nomination for 'For You,' his Top 10 single that appears on the 'Act of Valor' soundtrack.

The track, co-written by Urban, is nominated for Best Song, and is going head-to-head with pop music heavyweights Adele and Mumford & Sons for the prestigious theatrical honor. Other nominees include a selection from the upcoming 'Les Miserables' movie adaptation, as well as noted songwriter Paul Williams' contribution to the 'Still Alive' soundtrack.

“Being commissioned to write a song for the film ‘Act of Valor’ was daunting,” Urban says of writing the powerful track. “I had no clue how to write a song for this. It was last fall, just before I was going to have vocal surgery, and I thought, ‘I can’t… I just am not going to have time to do this!'"

Persistence from his wife, actress Nicole Kidman, motivated Urban to complete the tune, which reached No. 6 on the country charts earlier this year.

"My wife said, ‘Just try it!’ She’s so great, because she knows when I’m operating out of a place of fear — it’s one of the many things I love about her," adds the devoted husband.

The 2013 Critics’ Choice Movie Awards ceremony will be aired live on the CW Network at 8PM ET on Jan. 10 from the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica, Calif.

No word on whether Urban will appear or perform during the live telecast, but given his hectic 'American Idol' itinerary, it seems as though the Aussie superstar's January schedule is spread pretty thin already.
