It's picnic and backyard barbecue time, and the bugs are hungry...for you! Now research recommends that you keep electric bug zappers away for your food. Even though we haven't yet officially begun the "Frog Days of Summer", after Memorial Day Weekend, it's the summer season.

According to Kansas State University microbiologiest, James Urban, Ph.D. bug zappers and food should keep their distance. According to research, when bugs are zapped, the bug zapper devices can spread bacteria and viruses up to six feet.

So, when plugging in and setting up that bug zapper,  make sure that it's at least six feet away for your grill, picnic table and food prep area.
