Katy Perry and Dolly Parton to Perform Duet at 2016 ACMs
Few artists are known for their love of a good sequined stage ensemble than the reigning rhinestone cowgirl herself, Dolly Parton. If we had to select a contemporary runner-up, however, we’d place our bet on pop star Katy Perry, who’s been known to rock a sequin or two or three hundred in her many sparkling stage, music video, and photo-shoot outfits.
It’s fitting, then, that the two glamorous divas—Parton a country legend, Perry a pop dynamo—will be teaming up at the 2016 Academy of Country Music Awards.
In what will certainly be a visual explosion of glitz and glitter, the two singers will perform a live duet together at the annual award show celebrating country music, airing April 3 on CBS at 8 p.m. ET.
While it’s yet to be announced which song the two ladies will perform (will it be one of Parton’s iconic country ballads? A Parton-Perry mashup? Or perhaps an original collaboration?), the country star is confirmed to be honored as this year’s recipient of the Tex Ritter Award for Dolly Parton’s Coat of Many Colors, a 2015 NBC TV movie based on Parton’s spiritual upbringing in 1955 Tennessee. Perry is reportedly set to present the award.

While this will be Perry’s first time performing at the ACMs, it wont be her first time dabbling in country music. In 2014, the pop star teamed up with country singer-songwriter Kacey Musgraves for the CMT Crossroads Concert Series, in which the two performed Musgraves’ hit single “Merry Go ‘Round” together.
As for the upcoming duet with the larger-than-life Parton, Perry couldn’t be more thrilled or humble, tweeting, “I shall remember though that I am but one sequin on this living legend’s costume!”
