July Is National Women’s Motorcycle Month

It used to be that women were strictly passengers when it came to motorcycles. No longer. According to MSN women now own 12.3% of all motorcycles an increase of 28% since 2003 and make up 23% of motorcyclists up from 18% over the past five years. It is only fitting that July has become Women’s Motorcycle Month.
Beth Hazen, a motorcyclist and Nationwide Insurance agent. “Women’s Motorcycle Month celebrates the pioneers who broke down gender and racial barriers in the early days of motorcycling, and we hope their stories inspire even more women to consider getting out on bikes or scooters this summer.”
I don’t have any figures to back it up but my guess is that female bike riders have a better safety record than men. Just guessin….
