In a heartbreaking update on his wife's cancer battle, Rory Feek of Joey + Rory has revealed that Joey has said goodbye to their daughters as she prepares for what doctors have said will be the end of her life.

The husband-and-wife duo canceled their remaining Farmhouse Concerts after receiving the news that Joey’s cancer — for which she recently underwent surgery, radiation and chemotherapy — has not responded to treatment. Her doctors have told the husband-and-wife duo that there’s nothing more that medical science can do for her.

The couple have made the tough decision not to seek further treatment, and in a new post to his blog, This Life I Live, Rory reveals that they are with Joey's family in Indiana, where his two daughters from a previous marriage, Heidi and Hopie, drove up to spend precious time with the woman who has been a fixture in their lives for 13 years, as well as Joey and Rory's 1-year-old daughter, Indiana.

"They don’t actually call Joey ‘mom’. They never have," he writes. "I don’t know why. Maybe they’ve always been too afraid to completely trust… to completely give all of their hearts over – afraid that they’ll get left again by a woman that they love."

Joey hasn't been strong enough to get up and go outside, but she managed to make it out to the porch swing for an important conversation with the girls.

"She told them how much she loved them, and how proud she is of them. And how proud she is to be their mother," Rory shares. "And then she talked with them about the one thing that she didn’t think she would ever have to talk with them about: Leaving them. And then she told them of the day when they’ll be together again in Heaven."

As they were crying together on the porch swing, Joey's mother, sister and her sister's kids walked by, pushing Indiana in her stroller.

"They were singing and laughing and having a ball," Rory says. "And the conversation on the swing turned from tears to joy. From the porch we all smiled because we knew in that instant, that no matter what happens, Joey will always be with us. She’ll be in our little Indiana’s smile … and in our hearts forever."

The couple have set a time and date for fans and friends to join them in a prayer vigil on Thursday, Nov. 5 at 8PM CST. They are asking for everyone to pray Joey's prayer, which is simply, “Pray for a miracle … And even more so, for peace with His decision.”
