Jimmy John’s Opens in New Hartford

Jimmy John's Gourmet Sandwich Shop has opened on Campion Road in New Hartford.

The restaurant, which had been under construction since the fall of 2014 opened on April 7, 2015.

The restaurant features indoor and outdoor seating and a drive-thru.

If you've never been to Jimmy John's, here are a few things to know before you go:

• There is only one size of sub sandwich.

Unlike other chains that offer larger and smaller sizes, there is only one size sub an Jimmy Johns. However there are two size options. The difference is the amount of meat and cheese included.

• There are other sandwich options besides subs.

You can get your sandwich between two slices of multigrain bread or wrapped in a lettuce leaf.

• Getting one for later? Try the Slim

This is a trick I picked up when I lived in a location with a Jimmy John's. If I wanted to get a sandwich to take home, I'd order a Slim. These sandwiches are served with just meat and cheese on the bread. Then hours later, or maybe the next day for lunch, I'd add my own condiments. That way the bread doesn't get soggy when you're saving it for later.

Other Upstate New York Jimmy John's locations include the Syracuse and Binghamton areas as well as Ithaca and Albany.
